Irish Christmas Cake. Spiced over a couple of weeks the beef is then cooked and served either hot or cold. Another Irish food uncommon on our American table is a spiced beef. Not found very often in our American households. A traditional Irish Christmas dinner might include a Christmas Goose. However the Irish have some of their own unique treats. Not that different from the American tradition of holiday food is the turkey or ham, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and the rest of the fixings. Everyone would look forward to a big Christmas meal and with most cultures food plays an integral part of the Irish Tradition. One of the best things I remember from my childhood about Christmas was the amount of food and the special treats made only at this time of the year.

Now that the Christmas season is upon us I started to wonder what are the traditional Irish Christmas foods? During my search I started wondering about Irish traditions outside of dancing, pub night, drinking, and having a good time, which the Irish seem to be able to do with great enthusiasm. I mean it is one thing for an American to say they are Irish, but another to be Irish. This past year I have been researching my Irish ancestry.
